Me in the winter of 2008
I’m Dan Lecocq, and I’m a computer scientist.
I’m currently in my first year at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Thuwal, Saudi Arabia where I am enrolled in the MS program in applied mathematics and computational science. I recently graduated from the Colorado School of Mines with a BS in computer science.
I was previously a TA for CSM’s CSCI407 – Scientific Computing and I had a blog with support materials for the course, but I no longer actively maintain that. If anything here strikes your fancy (projects, code, etc.) or what have you send me a comment or email and I’d be happy to talk to you.
Any follow-up on the flooding at KAUST? The low area in front of the buildings (the second picture of your posting), is designed as a detention pond. All the main campus roof drainage and plazas drain to it, by design.
Nice blog.
Regards,
There are still some major services out, mostly in IT. For isolated parts of campus there is no internet or telephone service (my apartment building is the notable example in my mind, of course). Outside of that, the biggest concern will be the mold that will arrive in force, and dealing with the damage to roofs, ceilings, etc. And it’s not like we didn’t have a mold problem to begin with.
